Online licence plate renewal

To renew online, you will need your:

• vehicle information (licence plate number and permit number, found on your green ownership document)
• insurance information (businesses only)
• odometer information
• Visa or Mastercard (credit)

You can renew your licence plate online if you have:

• valid vehicle insurance
• a passenger vehicle, light duty commercial vehicle (under 3000 kgs), motorcycle, moped, or motorized snow vehicle
• no outstanding fines, penalties or tolls

There is no cost to renew your licence plate (may be restricted to certain areas based on region).

Outstanding fines and penalties: you will still be required to pay any outstanding fines or penalties due by your renewal.

You can pay by Visa or Mastercard (credit).

Fee: $30.00 CAD

You can print your receipt at the end of the transaction. If you provide your email, we will also send you a digital copy.

Personal information is collected on behalf of the Ministry of Transportation under the authority of section 205 of the Highway Traffic Act. The information is used for the administration of the Ministry's driver, vehicle and carrier programs.
